If you really would like to do an act of rebellion this week, try eating food you cooked. Honestly in this fast past world that is screaming constantly at us that we need more more more how about we just simply say no. We choose to love ourselves enough to nourish what matters. Us.
Think twice before you get taken in by fads, complicated recipes and marketing of the latest superfoods. I can promise you the best superfood that exists is the last veg you ate.
Eat a diet full of life giving plants. Living food. Don’t fall for supplements and pills. Half the time they are filled with synthetic fillers. Go for the real deal, the stuff our Designer put on this planet for us to eat.
Life is getting chaotic out there in this hyped up Christmas world. Step out of the busy. Take time to whip up a nourishing bowl that feeds your body with love. Instead of seeing eating as something to just do, start seeing it for what it can do to heal and support your body and mind. Yes food can change our mood and brain. We all need help to stay in our happy place this time of the year.
I just read a great article on the benefits of blueberries and how they can boost our cognitive function in kids. They literally stop our brains from going “rusty”. It’s much more scientific than that so you can read about here at www.nutitionfacts.org
Cognitive performance
A single meal of blueberries can improve cognitive performance in children within hours. In one study, primary school-age children performed tasks with 10% greater speed and accuracy after eating wild blueberry drinks”….nutrition.facts.org
Now how awesome is that and even better, they are in season right now. I say if it’s great for our kids it’s great for us too as we all have the same brains!
So maybe instead of buying that box of cereal that’s loaded with sugar and oil you could reach for a tub of blueberries or some frozen blueberries. I like mine on top of my overnight oats. You can make a huge batch of these brekkie oats and spoon onto your plate in the morning. Nice and easy just how our mornings should be.
Overnight Oats
( 15mins if you forget!)
1/2 C Oats
1 Tbsp Ground Flaxseed
1 Tbsp Pumpkin Seeds
1 Tbsp Sunflower Seeds
1 Tbsp Chia Seeds
1 Mashed Banana
Milk to cover ( I love soy milk)
Mash your banana then add the rest of ingredients. Top with your milk and leave to soak, then add your blueberries and any other fruit you love.
Ps If you don’t like banana leave it out. It is there to sweeten the oats. If you prefer you could use a little apple sauce.
Big Plant Love
